Question 4 / 13

Discussion Question #4 of 13

How much is a historical novelist responsible for accurate depictions of historical events? More than those writing books set in the contemporary world? Do we read historical fictions like Frazier's with a heightened expectation that care is being taken with "truth"?

I think a historial novelist shouldn't change historical facts, but has license to play within the facts. I know that if I am knowledgeable about the history of a period, I am much more picky if the book strays from fact. However, with Thirteen Moons, I am not as familiar with the time period so I didn't read it with historical fiction in mind.
